Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician - Injection Molding is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment to ensure optimal production performance and minimal downtime. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, particularly with plastics processing equipment.
[Main Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on injection molding machines, robots, and auxiliary equipment (e.g., dryers, chillers, grinders, conveyors).
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on production equipment.
Assist in mold setup, changeover, and alignment as needed.
Ensure proper function of temperature controllers, sensors, and other process control components.
Maintain documentation for repairs, PMs, and equipment modifications.
Work closely with production staff to minimize machine downtime and improve process efficiency.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and GMP (if applicable).
Recommend and implement improvements to increase equipment reliability and performance.
Monitor spare parts inventory and notify management when replenishment is needed.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent; trade school certification preferred.
Experience:
2-4 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with specific experience in injection molding strongly preferred.
Skills:
Solid understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Experience with troubleshooting PLCs and industrial control systems.
Ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical ability to lift, move, and manipulate heavy objects and work in tight spaces.
Workplace Conditions and Physical Expectations:
Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, oil, grease, dust, and other industrial elements.
Frequently exposed to varying temperatures depending on facility climate and season.
Regularly works around high-voltage electrical systems, pressurized equipment, and heavy machinery; strict adherence to safety procedures is required.
Requires physical stamina and the ability to:
Stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders or stairs for extended periods.
Reach, pull, push, and carry equipment or tools weighing up to 50 pounds.
Work in confined spaces or elevated platforms as needed.
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear.
Occasionally required to work overtime, weekends, or be on-call for emergency repairs.
Visual acuity and manual dexterity are required to read instruments, use diagnostic tools, and perform detailed repairs.
