Staff Electrical Engineer (Contract)

12-Month Contract-to-hire
We’re hiring a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead and execute complex substation, transmission line, and telecom projects across the full project lifecycle—from concept and design through construction and closeout. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys ownership, cross-functional leadership, and working on high-impact utility projects.
What You’ll Do
Lead cross-functional teams delivering substation, transmission, and telecom projects
Manage 5–20 concurrent projects ranging from $100K–$50M and 4kV–765kV
Own schedule, cost, risk, and quality to meet in-service dates
Navigate client gate approvals, including presentations to senior/executive leadership
Maintain accurate cost forecasts and estimates-at-completion
Coordinate construction, testing, and field activities with approved vendors
Provide routine project reporting, client updates, and status meetings
Facilitate collaboration across engineering, construction, environmental, real estate, and cost teams
What We’re Looking For
One of the following (required):
BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET) + 3+ years EE experience (consulting preferred)
BS in Electrical / Engineering Technology (ABET) + FE exam + 3+ years EE experience
MS in Electrical Engineering + 2+ years EE experience
Strong knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a quantitative problem-solving environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, 2D/3D modeling, and analysis tools
Strong collaboration, facilitation, and organizational skills
EIT certification preferred
