Sr. Mechanical Engineer-Machine Designer

Location: New Hope, MN 55428

Hiring Basis: 6-month contract to permanent basis

Pay: $50-$62/Hourly/W2

Lotus Technical has a 6-month contract to permanent role for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer-Machine Designer for our manufacturing client located in New Hope, MN. Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Manages machine design projects from concept development to successful project launch for New Product Introduction (NPI) and Custom Equipment as assigned. Designs and coordinates the mechanical and electrical activities related to the concept, testing, design, detail, assembly and fielding of equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops concepts for machine design, including CAD models and drawings.

Reviews designs, models and develops other applicable documents for a project.

Prepares cost estimates, delivery schedules and product cost in response to quote requests.

Applies knowledge of company capabilities and operations to determine material and labor hours needed for product costing and verifies compliance to marketing and sales expectations.

Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.

Prepares mechanical assembly layouts and details.

Assists in mechanical & electrical component selection.

Works with purchasing to develop schedules, cost, and cost reduction.

Prepares mechanical equations for machinery.

Develops initial design ideas and designs machines.

Defines reasonable project goals.

Maintains the product launch budget, schedule and hours.

Communicates to internal staff, vendors and customers.

Follow up phone, email and communication support to customers as required.

Supports customer relations and customer satisfaction.

Prepares reports as required by management.

Prepares technical machinery information and manuals.

Provides support for mechanical and electrical assembly in machine building

Computer operation [SolidWorks CAD program, Sage ERP, MISys MRP, and Microsoft software]

Other duties may be assigned as required by management.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and 15+ years related mechanical or electrical engineering experience and/or training; or Bachelor of Science (B.S.M.E.) and 10+ years related experience.

Previous estimating responsibilities in machine building or industrial automation are required. Solidworks experience required.

ERP experience preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.

Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
