Job Description

Position Summary

The Wire Production Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring machinery used to bunch, draw, and coil copper wire to meet production and quality standards. This is a weekend position working schedule is Monday-Thursday 3:15p-1:45a, with some mandatory Fridays.

Key Responsibilities

Operate a production line that bunches multiple copper strands together.

Load reels onto payoffs using a hand cart and monitor line operation to ensure consistent quality and performance.

Unload completed reels using a cart, weigh and label each reel, and transfer to skids using a fork truck.

Operate and monitor a multi-wire drawing line, utilizing a hydraulic lift to remove reels and a lift cart to transport finished reels to storage.

Operate a rod mill by positioning coils of copper rod with a fork truck, welding rod ends together and monitoring the drawing and coiling process.

Roll completed stems out of the coiler and transfer them to the storage area using a fork truck.

Participate in cross-training for all operational areas to ensure production flexibility and coverage.

Maintain a safe and organized work environment in accordance with company policies and safety procedures.

Requires constant standing and walking throughout the shift.

Frequent use of a fork truck and other material handling equipment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Prior experience in manufacturing, cable production, or extrusion operations is a plus.

Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50lbs repeatedly.

Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

Ability to work independently and follow instructions accurately.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., particularly when handling bar stock and fittings.
