Job Summary:
The Controller II is a financial leader responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations. This role requires advanced expertise in financial strategy, risk management, and operational efficiency. The Controller II drives financial performance, ensures regulatory compliance, and provides critical insights to guide business decisions. As a key member of the leadership team, this position collaborates closely with the CFO, COO, and General Manager to develop and implement strategic financial initiatives.
Essential Job Functions:
Lead the development and execution of complex financial strategies aligned with business objectives
Responsible for all personnel management activities, from recruitment and promotion to coaching, discipline, and termination, while fostering a compliant and supportive work environment.
Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
Implement and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets
Direct cost accounting processes and lead strategic cost reduction initiatives
Provide advanced financial analysis and modeling to support major business decisions
Lead the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning
Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies
Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems
Provide expert financial counsel to senior leadership and the Board of Directors
Lead special projects such as mergers, acquisitions, or system implementations
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
4+ years progressive Accounting experience, with 3+ years as a lead, supervisor, or manager
Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and financial software
Expert knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards
Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Accounting or related field
CPA certification
6+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Grain accounting experience
Work Environment:
This position is primarily based in an office setting, providing a professional work environment. The role may involve travel to other company locations or industry conferences, estimated at 10-15% of work time, requiring adaptability to different settings. Occasional visits to production areas may be necessary, offering exposure to various aspects of the company's operations. A key feature of this job is regular interaction with both senior management and plant personnel, demanding strong communication skills across different organizational levels. The position may require extended work hours during critical periods such as financial closes or audits, necessitating flexibility and commitment to meet important deadlines.
