Healthy Kids Programs is seeking Summer Camp Directors to guide campers through a summer filled with fun, friendship, and unforgettable adventures. This is your chance to lead, inspire, and create lifelong memories for children while being part of a supportive, award-winning team.

Healthy Kids Programs offers a childcare benefit for eligible employees to support work-life balance. This benefit is available for school-age children (ages 5–13) enrolled in our program on the days you work.

Schedule:

Pre-summer: Up to 3 hours per week, increasing to up to 6 hours per week beginning in May

Summer: Monday–Friday, shifts between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM

Potential to continue beyond summer with different hours

Dates: May 25 – June 26, 2026

Status: Part-time, non-exempt

Pay: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour, based on experience

Key Responsibilities

Organize and guide daily camp activities, games, interactive projects, and special events, including arts & crafts and themed programming.

Foster a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere where campers feel encouraged, supported, and actively involved.

Supervise, mentor, and support camp staff, including implementing the curriculum to ensure high-quality program delivery.

Maintain camper safety while adhering to all state regulations, Healthy Kids policies, and host school rules.

Connect with families each day via the Playground App and provide support during parent orientation sessions. Assist with community outreach to promote the program and involve prospective families.

Set a positive example through enthusiasm, optimism, and a proactive, can-do approach.

Requirements

Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age

Must meet one Virginia-approved education and experience pathway:

Graduate degree in a child-related field with 6+ months programmatic experience

Bachelor’s degree or endorsement in a child-related field with 1+ year programmatic experience

48 semester hours (or 72 quarter hours) including 12 semester hours (or 18 quarter hours) in child-related subjects plus 1 year programmatic experience

2 years programmatic experience including 1 year in a supervisory role plus an early childhood certificate, CDA credential, or recognized Montessori certification

At least 6 months of experience supervising, orienting, training, and scheduling staff, or completion of approved management training or coursework

Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Must successfully complete all applicable background screenings in accordance with Virginia state regulations
