Job Summary
The Inventory Associate supports data center operations by managing, tracking, and maintaining accurate inventory of IT hardware, parts, and materials. This role ensures proper receiving, storage, issuance, and documentation of equipment while maintaining strict accuracy, security, and compliance standards in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, inspect, and verify inbound shipments of data center equipment, including servers, networking hardware, cables, and accessories
Accurately log inventory transactions using inventory management systems or CMMS tools
Label, tag, and store equipment in designated locations following data center standards
Maintain real-time inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation
Pick, stage, and issue equipment for installs, upgrades, repairs, and decommissions
Track asset lifecycle from receipt through deployment, return, or disposal
Maintain chain-of-custody documentation and adhere to security and access controls
Coordinate with data center technicians, logistics teams, and vendors
Identify discrepancies, damaged items, or shortages and escalate appropriately
Follow ESD (Electrostatic Discharge), safety, and data center compliance procedures
Keep inventory areas clean, organized, and audit-ready at all times
Support physical asset audits and documentation reviews
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
1–3 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or logistics
Experience using inventory management systems, WMS, or CMMS platforms
Proficiency with RF scanners, barcode systems, and basic computer applications
Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy
Ability to follow written procedures and security protocols
Comfortable working in a controlled, secure environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform standing, walking, and bending throughout shifts
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a data center or IT environment
Familiarity with IT hardware (servers, racks, switches, cabling)
Knowledge of asset tracking and lifecycle management
Understanding of ESD handling procedures
Forklift or pallet jack experience
Experience supporting audits or compliance-driven environments
