Position Description
Reporting directly to the BIM Team Lead, the BIM Coordinator is a key position in the Mercer Mass Timber project execution team. As a self-motivated individual, you have efficient communication skills and enjoy being a team player focused on attention to detail. You are comfortable and able to work well in a deadline-oriented environment, including the ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines.
You will be supporting colleagues in Engineering, Fabrication Design and Project Management in the delivery of mass timber projects.
This hybrid position is based out of our corporate head office in Vancouver (1120-700 W Pender St, Vancouver, BC V6C 1X6).
Responsibilities
Prepare and review technical submittals to include BIM models, design submittals, shop drawings, etc.
Work in and develop a team of Specialist Mass Timber Drafters, focused on a DfMA design approach applied to Mass Timber
Develop and contribute to the group’s technical expertise, improve drafting resources and procedures, mentor junior team members
Be passionate about design automation and parametric design/modelling
Lead communication with Fabrication Designers and collaborate with Mercer Mass Timber group. Engage with external consultants as part of the Project Delivery team
Estimate BIM Coordination needs for projects within an established timeline, reviewing and coordinating as necessary
Required Qualifications and Experience
A degree in Architectural Technology, CAD Technology, Structural Engineering, or a related field
At least 2 years experience as BIM Coordinator or Lead Drafter
Proven experience in Revit, BIM360 and Cadwork
Experience in production and interpretation of structural drawings, i.e., evidence that has worked on projects and produced structural drawings
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Experience in the DfMA process applied to mass timber projects, including CAD/CAM fabrication software packages is considered an asset
Experience in the Coordination for fabrication of Mass Timber projects in the North American and/or European markets is considered an asset
Experience in 4D for site logistics and just-in-time delivery planning (e.g., Navisworks) is considered an asset
Experience in parametric design (Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, Python, etc.) is considered an asset
English written and spoken is required
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is $80,000 – $105,000. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

RRSP – We provide a competitive RRSP contribution plan, with base contributions made by Mercer which can be supplemented with personal contributions matched by the company up to a certain %.
