Job Description

Accountability: Technology Infrastructure Services 60%

The primary purpose of this role is the planning, design, implementation, operation, maintenance, and improvement of ABSL technology infrastructure to meet or exceed agreed availability and performance targets within approved capital and operational expenditure budgets.

Manage the IT infrastructure and resources required to plan for, develop, deliver, and support IT services and products. Set infrastructure standards and optimize savings through compliant procurement of compliant products, in collaboration with regional technology heads and sourcing.

Installation, upgrades, maintenance and performance monitoring of servers.

Management of infrastructure facilities such as asset management, antivirus capability, system configuration, deployment and maintenance services.

Undertaking necessary duties involved with projects that arise that have an impact on the Network and/or Infrastructure, where necessary being the technical lead or being the Project Manager for projects where required.

Manages the bank Internet & VPN connectivity and services: connection to general

Provide infrastructure services vision, enable innovation, and leverage Information Technology (IT) trends that can create business value consistent with the bank’s requirements and expectations.

Lead both in-country and regional strategic technology initiatives to build and maintain key elements of the bank’s enterprise infrastructure and associated project portfolio, including but not limited to 24x7 data centre infrastructure management and evolution, mobility and remote access services, wireless networks, enterprise-scale messaging environments, active directory multi-forest integration, dual-carrier WAN, software-defined internetworking, and innovative end user computing solutions.

Accountability: Financial and Commercial 10%

Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing and tracking both the Operating and Capital Expenditure Budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.

Engage with technology service providers by identifying key partners, reviewing contracts, negotiating service agreements and conducting performance reviews thus driving the desired vendor behavior by ensuring their performance leads to pre-defined consequences, deliverables, and results.

Develop Request for Proposals and Information (RFP/RFI), oversee product evaluations, coordinate product and service selections, and ensure that pricing, terms, and conditions for supplier contracts meet ABSL and Technology’s standards while achieving optimal results for the bank and its business.

Accountability: Project Management and Documentation 10%

Develop required Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Business Cases (BC), Transition Support Agreements (TSAs). Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks, and issues using agreed criteria results and metrics.

Lead infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, and deployments.

Collaborate with application and service teams for seamless integration.

Designs, plans and develops network and infrastructure services within the context of

the IT strategy by e.g.: contributing expertise to strategy development and design of

projects and solutions; inputting to business cases; managing projects in realization of

agreed strategic objectives.

Manage projects through the entire project lifecycle ensuring the proposal and development of effective solutions that meet the project objectives and are in line with business and system strategies.

Ensure that projects adhere to company project methodology and standards, including appropriate documentation and controls.

Accountability: Business and Risk Management 10%

Participate in incident management & DR activity – applying critical thinking, problem solving & technical expertise to get to the bottom of major incidents.

Understand & apply group technology (e.g. architecture, development, change & release etc.), risk, governance, compliance & regulatory standards and frameworks.

Provide leadership for delivery of 24/7 service operations including Risk (General IT Controls) compliance. Establish metrics, key performance indicators, and service level agreements to continually improve the performance of IT operations.

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards.

Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.
