Location: Elgin, IL

Pay Rate: $55,000–$65,000/year

Schedule: Full-time Night Shift

Central Texas Recruiting is seeking a highly skilled Night Shift Maintenance Technician to maintain and protect a $7.5 million SSI e-waste shredding system.

This role requires advanced mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills, as well as the ability to operate independently during the night shift. The ideal candidate will ensure maximum uptime and mechanical integrity of critical production equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain high equipment uptime and reliability of SSI shredding system

Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical failures quickly and accurately

Perform proactive inspections and preventative maintenance

Replace bearings, motors, couplings, shafts, seals, and heavy wear components

Conduct cutter stack inspections and component swaps

Perform welding, fabrication, and alignment repairs as needed

Troubleshoot 3-phase electrical systems and PLC-controlled equipment

Monitor and maintain hydraulic systems and pressure consistency

Respond immediately to production stoppages and perform root cause analysis

Document repairs and preventative maintenance accurately

Qualifications & Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications preferred

7+ years industrial maintenance experience with heavy machinery

Experience with industrial shredders or similar heavy-duty systems

Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and knowledge of 3-phase electrical systems

Hydraulic systems experience and welding/fabrication skills

Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics

Ability to work independently on night shift and lift 75+ lbs
