Columbus, OH area Automotive manufacturer is seeking a Senior Transmission Research Engineer with a strong background in control systems design, development, validation, and calibration. Must have Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in Transmission/Powertrain systems, specifically with in-vehicle instrumentation and data analysis including fluency in Control-Area Network based data acquisition and automotive embedded control systems tools (both ATI and ETAS brands). Responsibilities will include the development and validation of transmission calibration to match desired vehicle characteristics including tuning of shift quality, shift strategy, Automatic Transmission/Fuel Injection interface control, failsafe/protection, and overall powertrain integration to the vehicle. Additionally will work with cross-functional vehicle teams (design, calibration and control systems, testing) for target setting in order to achieve program targets such as cost, timing, durability, fuel economy, performance, emissions, drivability, and NVH. Will also be responsible for generating new algorithms to control transmission systems for improved marketability and efficiency. Some travel may be required. Salary up to $88,000.
