Position Summary: COTA's Telematics Data Analyst will utilize available technology to assist the Vehicle Maintenance Department in diagnosing ad resolving transit vehicle-related defects and performance issues.

Performs duties in alignment with the 2019-2024 COTA Strategic Plan and in support of the organization's vision To Move Every Life Forward.

This Position is Responsible For: Leads all data analytics initiatives that relate to the performance of COTA's fleet of revenue vehicles; Monitors poor performance, engine-related defects, transmission-related defects, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), HVAC and braking related problems; Determines action plans to address performance issues, identify negative trends and potential causes of component failures; Leads VM staff in the resolution of quality concerns and performance issues; Researches new technologies and data, such as telematics data usage, and new tools for data exploration and visualization; Identify data cleansing opportunities and suggests improvements to data accuracy, data collection systems, and other tools to optimize statistical efficiency and quality; Interprets telematics data and diagnoses performance issues within the buses systems; Monitors day-to-day transit vehicle operations using the telematics system to provide recommendations for diagnostics and repairs based upon fault codes and repair and maintenance experience.

This function is critical in preventing bus service interruptions and aiding in improving the efficiency of the Transit Operations; Produce and analyze reports on COTA bus fleet for Vehicle Maintenance and the Engineering staff utilizing VM support applications to make judgements on technical part failures and trends; Interpret engineering drawings and schematics related to the following systems: propulsion, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic and electrical ladder rung charts.

Record and track the nature of various end user requests and issues in an effort to perform trend analysis activities; Review VM support applications daily for exceptions and report findings to VM in regards to fluid usage in Fleetwatch and tire pressure readings from Ventech.

At Minimum You'll Need: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or Computer Science or related field; and a minimum of five (5) years of experience with heavy duty transit vehicles; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

ASE Certification preferred.
