What you'll do

Creates or edits IT artifacts, including architecture diagrams, policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, & best practices, with a focus on M365 Collaboration Identity product stack.

Leads & documents complex initiatives for organizational improvement frameworks in ensuring alignment with M365 security standards.

Becomes an expert within the M365 ecosystem, specializing in Entra Security, Purview and Defender solutions to strengthen data governance, compliance, and threat protection.

Focuses on implementing advanced security controls, identifying risks, and driving mitigation strategies across collaboration platforms.

Develops deep expertise in Entra Security, Purview for data classification, retention, and compliance, as well as Defender for threat detection, incident response, and proactive security posture management

Works with IT staff, CIO, or IT managers to design solutions that meet the agency’s requirements

Leads M365 Security and Privacy architecture reviews, ensuring alignment with enterprise compliance frameworks and incorporating advanced data protection strategies such as classification, labeling, and encryption.

Performs security analysis of IT solutions and designs, with a focus on M365 services including Azure AD, ADFS, and Entra ID, emphasizing identity security, conditional access, and zero-trust principles.

Authors solution documentation, embedding M365 Entra security best practices, compliance guidelines, and data governance standards, including sensitivity labels and retention policies.

Provides input for security requirements and procurement statements of work, ensuring they reflect M365 capabilities for data protection, privacy compliance, and risk mitigation

Assists other IT staff, CIOs, or IT managers to achieve IT goals & objectives:

Represents ISD to lead, coordinate, or support IT projects, ensuring alignment with M365 initiatives.

Ensures communication is easily understood by intended audiences, including nontechnical staff, particularly in the context of M365 services & solutions.

Provides, revise, &/or vet focused research for M365 collaboration identity services & security practices.

Mentors & provides knowledge transfer to other IT staff, focusing on M365 core skills & best practices.

Seeks feedback from IT staff to continuously improve M365-related processes & solutions.

Seeks to develop expertise in project management methodologies, particularly those relevant to M365 deployments & migrations.

Seeks to develop advanced leadership skills; works to improve leadership capabilities within the context of managing M365 environments.

Continually self-assesses to ensure up-to-date knowledge & skills in M365 administration, security, & compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Core undergraduate program in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent work experience. AND Experience Minimum 4 years combined work experience in any combination of the following: assisting with development and updates to the strategic Information Technology plan, participating in work groups to author Information Technology plan by discipline/program team and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design for assigned discipline/program team (e.g., software development, infrastructure, database administration, security) including 2 years technology related work experience as specified by the agency position description and vacancy/job posting.
