The Housing Authority of the City of Summit is seeking a Part-Time Maintenance Assistant (25 hours/week) to support the upkeep and maintenance of residential properties. This position is ideal for a dependable, hands-on individual with basic maintenance skills and a commitment to providing safe, well-maintained housing for residents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, appliances)
• Prepare vacant units for new occupancy
• Perform grounds maintenance including trash removal, snow removal, and light landscaping
• Respond to maintenance work orders and report safety concerns
• Use tools and equipment safely and properly
• Interact professionally with residents and staff
• Follow Housing Authority policies and safety procedures
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Prior maintenance, handyman, or facilities experience
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Exposure to tools, equipment, dust, and cleaning chemicals
