The Homebound/Homebased Teacher provides individualized and small group instruction to students who are unable to attend school due to medical, emotional, or other approved reasons.
This role ensures students have access to the general curriculum, maintain academic progress, and receive support to transition back into the school setting when appropriate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Provide direct instruction in core content areas aligned with the student's grade level, Individualized Education Program (IEP), 504 Plan, or general education curriculum.
* Develop and implement lesson plans based on district curriculum standards and student needs.
* Collaborate with classroom teachers to align instruction and assignments with ongoing coursework.
* Modify and adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
* Maintain accurate documentation of instructional hours, progress, and communication.
* Participate in IEP/504 meetings, parent conferences, and staff meetings as required.
* Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, attendance, and instructional needs.
* Monitor and report student achievement, behavior, and participation.
* Support the student's transition back to the classroom or alternative placement.
* Adhere to all school board policies, state regulations, and professional standards of practice.
Qualifications * Valid teaching license/certificate issued by the state.
* Bachelor's degree in Education (Master's preferred). * Experience in general or special education teaching.
* Knowledge of instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications for diverse learners.
* Strong communication and organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
* Reliable transportation to student instructional locations.
Working Conditions * Instruction provided in student homes, community settings, or virtually as assigned.
* Flexible schedule based on student availability and needs.
* Regular travel within the district may be required.
* Exposure to various home environments and medical situations.
Reports To: Director of Student Services Pay: $30.00 an hour
