3rd Shift Quality Lab Technician

Lab Technician Position

Actalent is seeking a lab technician to support an industrial paint manufacturing company in Columbus. This role involves coordinating the collection of random samples from production batches and conducting a wide variety of complex testing processes to measure the physical characteristics of products. The position is a long term opportunity and on 3rd shift, from 10:30pm - 6:30am, Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities include:

Understanding and following a batch ticket (recipe) with high degree of accuracy for weights and measurements.

Performing a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches to measure product's physical or chemical characteristics.

Testing on materials from suppliers and batches from production.

Performing standard testing procedures, including prep of materials, with attention to detail and high quality.

Following daily work plan for Lab Work Request or project plan.

Accurately documenting work in lab notebooks (either physical or electronic).

Recognizing roadblocks or anomalies; resolving them or communicating concerns with a chemist in a timely manner.

Ensuring raw materials are available and correctly labelled.

Correctly labeling and mailing samples.

Maintaining clean and organized work environment.

Tinting batches without assistance.

Calculating resin composites.

Maintaining QC records using web based computer system.

Preparing records for submission.

Testing on lab equipment-viscosity, pH, weight per gallon, % solids.

Drawing downs.

Use of ovens.

Maintaining and performing calibrations on machines.

Additional skills and qualifications:

MUST: Not color blind, prior quality/wet lab experience or entry level graduate with AS or BS in Science.

PLUS: Prior experience with color matching, working with paint, pigments, coatings, industrial lab experience doing basic wet chemistry-viscosity, pH, % solids.

Experience level: Intermediate level.

Job type and location: This is a contract to hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and benefits: The pay range for this position is $25.25 - $25.25/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
