Chef Sofra (Chef Group Pty Ltd) is seeking an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team at our venue in Essendon, Melbourne.
Operating since 2021, Chef Sofra specialises in authentic Provincial Turkish Cuisine, offering a wide variety of traditional dishes beyond standard street food, with a strong focus on cold and hot meze, charcoal-grilled meats, and slow-cooked regional specialties. We are expanding our team as our capacity and operating hours increase.

Key Responsibilities
• Preparing, cooking, and plating traditional Turkish cuisine in line with established recipes and presentation standards
• Producing a variety of cold and hot meze, ensuring consistency in taste, portion control, and quality
• Preparing and cooking charcoal-grilled and slow-cooked meat dishes using appropriate timing and traditional cooking techniques
• Supporting high-volume service operations by coordinating workflow and prioritising orders
• Monitoring food quality throughout preparation and service, including taste, temperature, texture, and presentation
• Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, allergen handling, and correct storage procedures
• Communicating effectively with front-of-house and management regarding service timing, special requests, and kitchen requirements
• Assisting with training junior kitchen staff and maintaining safe work practices
• Contributing ideas for improvement and development of traditional dishes, particularly within meze and regional specialties
About You
To be successful, you will have:
• Min Diploma in the relevant field and min 1 year F/T work experience in the last 5 years in the relevant field
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume service environment
• Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene requirements
• Teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail
• Interest and capability in preparing traditional Turkish cuisine
