We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we're all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?
As part of our Manufacturing team, you'll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles we're known for. In our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. You'll get the satisfaction of making great products people use and love.
In this position...
As part of our Body Construction Stamping Engineering Vehicle Manufacturing Engineering team, you'll help analyze, iterate, ideate, and plan the world-class, state-of-the-art production systems that build the vehicles that the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we're continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles.
The DVA engineer will lead model development and reporting in support of forward model vehicle manufacturing engineering development and production quality. The DVA Engineer is responsible for developing advanced body and vehicle assembly simulation models to predict the variation and contributors to variation of the discrete process and tooling elements of the production system and the incoming material (components) as processed
In addition, you will leverage advanced, innovative production simulation modeling analysis software applications and techniques to optimize our overall manufacturing processes and tooling strategies. This involves leading the development of dimensional variation analysis to support the development of vehicle production systems and the vehicles that they produce. An ideal candidate will be meticulous, data-driven and comfortable refining a simulation model as well as defending their analysis to a production manager.
Based in Dearborn, MI, this is a hybrid position with a required four-day onsite presence each week.
Responsibilities
What you'll do...
Lead dimensional variation analysis modeling and reporting.
Develop full functional variation models the simulate the impact of incoming material and production system variation and behavior.
Provide geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) support
Support appearance and functional dimensional issue resolution.
Support related dimensional control elements (locators, checking fixtures, etc.) as needed.
Provide design and process feedback based on model analysis.
Lead vehicle program deliverables for DVA team per the manufacturing QOS
Lead program management of DVA deliverables
Support the integration of stamping simulation responses into body assembly simulation models.
Support the implementation of AI techniques in developing solution sets to complex dimensional problems.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
3 or more years of dimensional control experience, preferably with skills including:
Production experience in the manufacture or assembly of vehicle systems (body, trim, and chassis)
Experience developing and analyzing GD&T
Expertise in developing and analyzing locating strategies for body, trim, and chassis systems
Experience performing tolerance analysis simulations using VisVSA (or similar software)
Background performing finite element analysis (FEA) simulations using Hypermesh, NASTRAN, and LS-DYNA.
Even better, you'll have...
Master's degree in engineering, mathematics or similar.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Strong Project Management skills and result-oriented mindset
Strong verbal & written communication and presentation skills
Energetic personality that is eager to learn and solve problems.
Expertise in production experience in the manufacture of assembly of vehicle systems (body, trim, chassis)
Strong experience developing and analyzing GD&T
Expertise in developing and analyzing locating strategies for body, trim, and chassis systems
Experience performing tolerance analysis simulations using VisVSA (or similar software)
Background performing finite element analysis (FEA) simulations using Hypermesh, NASTRAN, and LS-DYNA.
