Role Overview: As a Senior Software Systems Engineer on the Software Validation team, you will be vital in shaping the validation strategies for cutting-edge autonomous vehicle software. Your experience in designing and executing complex validation and verification methodologies will be essential as you prototype and advance our programs with enhanced trust and efficiency. You will guide engineers in establishing best practices, driving innovation in testing, and ensuring the safety and performance of autonomous systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing evaluation methodologies for AI systems and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) features.

About Our Organization: The Autonomous Vehicle (AV) organization is committed to pioneering autonomous vehicle development using innovative simulation technologies and iterative processes. The Software Validation team is focused on facilitating software launches and continuous release decisions through rigorous simulation verification and validation strategies. Our collaborative work environment encourages innovation, enabling us to push the boundaries of what is achievable in autonomous vehicle testing.

Key Responsibilities:

Establish requirements and metrics for validating safe and comfortable autonomous vehicle operations.

Conduct thorough analysis and characterization of autonomous behaviors to influence software development and launch decisions.

Develop and prototype simulation-based and road-based testing strategies that support continuous software release cycles.

Utilize systems engineering and data analysis expertise to facilitate data-driven design, validation, risk analysis, and prioritization.

Manage roadmaps for developing long-term stable requirements, validation solutions, and strategies to address advanced problems across multiple product lifecycles.

Mentor team members and foster collaboration across teams to define effective behavioral validation strategies for new launches.

Your Skills & Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.

7+ years of experience in systems engineering, robotics, systems analysis, data analysis, statistical analysis, or related areas.

Proficiency in SQL, Python, and C++ for analyzing large datasets.

Exceptional analytical thinking skills with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.

Capable of adapting and thriving in ambiguous environments, transitioning from quick prototypes to strategic long-term plans.

Strong communication skills, adept at engaging in both high-level and detailed discussions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, vehicle development, or ADAS.

Familiarity with robotics simulation environments.

Experience analyzing automotive collision data.

Experience developing dashboards and data visualizations using tools such as Looker or Jupyter notebooks.

Industry experience in systems engineering and requirements management.

Familiarity with requirements management tools (Jama, DNG, DOORS, etc.).

Proven track record of successful systems engineering for safety-critical products.

Compensation:

The expected base compensation for this role ranges from $125,000 to $191,700, depending on relevant factors.

Bonus Potential: Incentive pay is available based on company and individual performance.
