Summary
The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting Project Managers, ensuring that the work conducted adheres strictly to the project's plans and specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities
Familiarizes with project plans and specifications to ensure compliance. Reviews shop drawings and submittals meticulously.
Evaluates plans for value analysis and constructability, ensuring proper material usage, and communicates any inconsistencies to the architect.
Suggests labor-saving and cost-effective methods that can benefit Layton and/or the project owner during construction.
Attends project team meetings, takes detailed notes, and distributes meeting minutes afterwards.
Generates weekly progress reports for assigned projects and follows up on required information for construction.
Updates project schedules as needed to keep timelines on track.
Assists in the bidding process and helps develop scope of work for subcontractors.
Collaborates with the superintendent to create the project schedule, including critical dates for shop drawings and essential milestones.
Keeps thorough logs to track the status of shop drawings, change requests, and proposal requests.
Advises on proper procedures for concrete pours and conducts inspections of structural reinforcement.
Coordinates slump and compaction testing to ensure compliance with specifications.
Reviews field procedures and final installations to verify adherence to project standards.
Conducts work sampling, observing and analyzing methods to suggest improvements for increased efficiency.
Strictly follows all safety policies and procedures and reports any unsafe activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
A minimum of 1 year experience with a commercial general contractor or relevant internship experience is preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of expressing ideas clearly and effectively.
Proficiency in Word and Excel is required.
Ability to adapt and modify plans or behavior to meet goals efficiently.
Collaborative mindset to work well with others and assist in achieving common objectives.
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Eagerness to learn new job-related information rapidly.
Understanding of OSHA regulations and company safety requirements.
Integrity in maintaining high ethical standards and organizational policies in all job-related activities.
Effective problem-solving skills, able to handle varied and complex scenarios with flexibility.
Familiarity with scheduling programs is preferred.
