Job Description:
Assist Rates Department team by researching and compiling data for regulatory submissions to the CPUC, including changing water rates, analyzing customer bill impacts, and enhancing affordability for low-income customers.
INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
One year commitment from June 1, 2026, through May 28, 2027
Summer - full time (32-40 hours per week)
Fall/Spring/Winter - based on school schedule
100% on-site, no remote option
Eligibility for employment in the US is required without sponsorship (ex. OPT, F1, etc.)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Audit and update metrics to evaluate the general affordability of water bills using Excel spreadsheets
Research minimum wage data in California cities
Set up new channels and create tasks in MS Teams
Incorporate new water rates into Excel spreadsheets that validate changes in water bills
Organize notes in OneNote and electronic files in Windows Explorer
Develop improvements in the layout and usability of the Rates Department Intranet page, and upload materials
Auditing the accuracy of files on Cal Water’s Rates Internet pages
Format and prepare regulatory filings for submission to the California Public Utilities Commission
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of and ability to use MS Excel and Word, and interest in learning new Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to use logic and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or verbal instructions
Desire to learn new skills and ideas by working collaboratively
Organization skills with attention to detail, and an interest in completing projects thoroughly and efficiently
Preferred: interest in basic finance and accounting principles and procedures
Salary Range: $25.00 - $27.00 (DOE)
