THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Database Management Specialist, you will be at the forefront of planning, implementing, and supporting Chipotle's production and preproduction databases. Collaborate closely with our application teams to ensure effective and sustainable database designs. This role includes providing 24/7 on-call support for production database systems, enhancing legacy systems, and shaping a modern data platform. LOCATION
This position will be based in our Columbus, OH office 4 days per week (with work from home on Friday). Remote work is not available for this role.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

Manage and maintain databases, schemas, roles, and warehouses effectively.
Optimize compute resources to enhance performance and reduce costs.
Monitor system health, storage utilization, and query performance to ensure reliability.
Automate regular administrative tasks with SQL, Python, or scripts to increase efficiency.
Implement robust role-based access control and security measures.
Work alongside data engineers to deploy streamlined data pipelines (DBT/ADF).
Support seamless data ingestion from various sources including cloud, APIs, and existing databases.
Facilitate efficient data loading, transformation, and partitioning practices.
Analyze query execution plans to enhance workload efficiency.
Manage warehouse sizing and scaling, balancing cost and performance effectively.
Ensure data security, encryption, and masking practices are continuously upheld within Snowflake.
Execute disaster recovery, backup, and data retention strategies promptly.
Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to support various data projects.
Troubleshoot database, schema, and access-related issues efficiently.
Provide insights on Snowflake best practices to optimize our operations.
Stay up-to-date with Snowflake updates and cloud technologies to enhance functionality.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
3 to 5 years of practical experience in Database Administration or Data Engineering.
A minimum of 2 years working directly with the Snowflake Cloud Data Platform.
Strong SQL proficiency alongside data modeling and performance tuning experience.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
Experience with ETL/ELT tools like DBT or ADF.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
A detail-oriented mindset with proactive performance and cost identification.
A proven ability to thrive in an agile and fast-paced work environment.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
SnowPro Core or SnowPro Advanced certification is a plus.
Familiarity with Snowflake Cortex.
Experience with SQL Server or Oracle is advantageous.
Knowledge of CI/CD for data pipelines (Terraform) is desirable.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell.
Awareness of BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik.
PAY TRANSPARENCY
The current base pay range for this position is between $86,000.00 and $117,500.00. You can also expect annual cash bonuses and equity awards based on performance and other factors. Actual compensation may vary depending on your skills, experience, and education.
