Lead Process Engineer

Sharpe Engineering & Equipment is excited to invite applications for the position of Lead Process Engineer. We are looking for a skilled professional to drive the design, development, and execution of advanced sanitary process systems tailored for the food & beverage industry. This role requires an innovative technical expert who will guide projects from initial concept through detailed design, equipment specification, installation, and successful commissioning. In this position, you will collaborate in a dynamic environment with clients, internal engineering teams, contractors, and vendors. Your contributions will be pivotal in creating effective process solutions that yield outstanding project outcomes and enhance Sharpe's reputation as a trusted partner in food & beverage processing.

Key Responsibilities

Design and layout fluid process systems, encompassing batching, processing, packaging, CIP/COP, pasteurization, filtration, and heat exchange technologies.

Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), utility and equipment matrices, mass balances, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).

Define and specify process equipment, including pumps, valves, instrumentation, and utility systems such as steam, glycol, condensate, cooling water, and city water.

Prepare performance specifications and requests for quotations (RFQs), and coordinate with vendors throughout the equipment selection process.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and actively support continuous improvement initiatives within client operations.

Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure seamless alignment across engineering, project management, installation, and start-up activities.

Provide hands-on supervision and support during equipment installation, commissioning, and site visits.

Maintain robust communication with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and excellence in service.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or a related field).

8-10+ years of pertinent process engineering experience; supervisory experience is an advantage.

Strong knowledge of 3A, USDA, and FDA sanitary design specifications.

Proficiency in AutoCAD (including isometric drawings), Microsoft Office, and relevant process engineering tools.

Demonstrated experience in executing process design from concept through installation and commissioning.

Willingness to travel to client sites (30-50%) for meetings, design reviews, installation support, and start-ups.

A detail-oriented, collaborative engineer who excels in a fast-paced, client-focused setting.
