Instructor of Respiratory Care with Duties of Director of Clinical Education

The Division of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is seeking applicants for a full-time instructor of respiratory care with duties of directing clinical education beginning Spring 2026 to teach in the Associate of Science degree program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). The Respiratory Care Program's goal is to prepare graduates with demonstrated competence in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains of the respiratory care practice. Graduates of the program are prepared to be successful registered respiratory therapists (RTTs).

The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) is responsible for the clinical education component of the program. Including but not limited to:

· providing clinical direction of the program to fulfill accreditation requirements,

· assisting with program planning and curriculum development,

· didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction, developing cognitive, psychomotor, and behavioral objectives for clinical practice performance,

· communicating expectations to students and clinical instructors about the clinical component of the program,

· evaluating student performance and developing program policies and procedures,

· accepting committee assignments and assisting with recruitment of qualified students/faculty,

· serving as an academic advisor for students and acting as a professional role model, and

· maintaining expertise and competency through continuing education.

The DCE must hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential, have a minimum of 3 years' experience as a DCE, have a minimum of a bachelor's degree, and must have evidence of proficiency with technology and commitment to innovation to deliver evidence-based education. Preference is given to candidates with previous teaching experience in a respiratory care program and experience with program direction.
