What We Need YOU To Do:
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to join our team as environmental specialist with the Division of Materials and Waste Management (DMWM) at our Central Office in Columbus, Ohio.
Waste has to go somewhere. It’s our job to ensure it’s handled properly.
As environmental manager, you’ll oversee the daily work of DMWM’s Contracting Enforcement, Financial Assurance, and Scrap Tire programs. Together, these sections manage $1 billion in financial assurance for 400 regulated waste facilities and monitor more than 200 scrap tire, solid waste, and construction and demolition debris sites each year.
You’ll set program goals, lead strategic planning, and develop guidance, policies, and procedures. You’ll also track work commitments, supervise staff development and training, and manage program budgets and resources.
For facilities that are non-compliant with regulations and agency permits, you’ll help develop strategies to bring them back into compliance. You’ll also guide the review of permit applications, inspections, enforcement referrals, and administrative or civil enforcement actions in coordination with other divisions.
Finally, you’ll serve as a technical resource for health districts, government officials, and industry partners, and you’ll represent the program through public presentations and outreach to facilities, local governments, and stakeholders.
Let’s recap the major tasks:
· Manage daily operations for DMWM’s Contracting Enforcement Financial Assurance, and Scrap Tire programs.
· Set and track program goals, commitments, and staff workloads.
· Coordinate administrative and civil enforcement actions for non-compliant waste management facilities.
· Provide technical assistance to internal and external constituents.
