Description:

Part-Time Family Support / Community Buddy - Lewis Center, OH

A caring family in Lewis Center is seeking a kind, patient, and engaging support person for their 10-year-old autistic son. He is well-behaved, friendly, and a joy to be around. We're hoping to find someone who can be a positive "buddy" - supporting him as he builds social skills, confidence, and meaningful connections in the community.

Schedule:

Weekday evenings: 4:00-7:30 PM

Occasional Saturday or Sunday hours (flexible)

What the Role Looks Like:

Engaging him in community outings and activities

Supporting social interaction and communication in natural settings

Taking him swimming and participating in fun, age-appropriate activities

Encouraging independence through play and shared experiences

Providing calm, consistent, and respectful support

About Him:

Friendly, gentle, and cooperative

Enjoys reading, sensory toys, and hands-on activities

Thrives with positive encouragement and clear routines

Who We're Looking For:

Someone warm, reliable, and patient

Experience with children and/or autism is a plus (but not required for the right person)

Comfortable being active and engaging in the community

A genuine interest in building a trusting, supportive relationship

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, values inclusion, and wants to make a meaningful difference in a child's daily life. We're excited to welcome someone who will become a supportive and encouraging presence for our son.

If you'd like, I can also tailor this for Care.com, Facebook groups, or a more casual or more professional tone

What We Provide

Competitive pay

Legal employment

Support from a manager and wider childcare team

Opportunities to grow professionally and apply early-childhood or education-related learning

Access to contests, social gatherings, and community events for connection and support

What You'll Bring

Experience caring for children (paid or unpaid) and at least two childcare-related references

Consistent, dependable communication

Reliable transportation and a working cell phone

Ability to travel between home, school, and local activities

A warm, encouraging presence to greet this loving family each day

If you enjoy creating meaningful, active afternoons and supporting school-age children as they grow, this role offers a wonderful opportunity to make a positive impact.
