Job Description and Hiring Process Attached Date Posted: May 7, 2024 JOB DESCRIPTION FACILITIES SUPERVISOR EXEMPT DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This is a Facility Maintenance supervisory position for all Township Facilities.
This position performs direct supervisory duties of union custodial and part-time maintenance staff.
The employee works under the direction of the Project and Facilities Services Manager.
This position is responsible for the administration of all capital projects for all facilities and maintenance.
This position serves as the lead administrator for energy practices and procedures for the organization.
Coordination of building systems organizational-wide including security and fire suppression systems.
This position serves as the lead in managing the administration of all historical properties.
This position serves as the professional staff member liaison to the Historical Society and Historic District Commission.
An employee in this position hires, trains and schedules staff, supervises contractors and writes project specifications.
This position will inspect all facilities for maintenance needs, energy efficiencies and safety compliance.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Note: These examples are intended merely as illustration of the various types of work performed in positions allocated to this class, and do not include all of the duties that may be assigned to this position.) Schedules and supervises facility maintenance staff and verifies that all tasks are completed as assigned.
Maintains accurate records, reports and logs.
Provides supervision and security of facilities including emergency management.
Inspects equipment to ensure that it is in good working order.
Coordinates room set ups and tear downs when needed.
Ensures that the cleanliness of all facilities is maintained.
Plans and supervises repair work performed by contractors.
Annual Canton Historic District Report.
Attends monthly Historic District Commission and Historic Society meetings.
Plans, initiates and administers all capital projects for facilities, maintenance and historic properties.
Leads the Organization's effort in energy efficiency including grant implementation and reporting, researching energy alternatives and technologies, and activities such as benchmarking energy use, identifying trends, anomalies and opportunities for enhanced efficiencies.
Indoor event coordination for facilities (Home Expo, Annual Shutdown, State of Township). Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Experience with monitoring budgets and purchasing.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Community Center or facility operation experience preferred.
Ability to deal with the public and other employees in a tactful and courteous manner.
Ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays, and/or flexible schedule.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Understanding of OSHA standards relating building safety and worker safety.
Ability to monitor all facility areas and the immediate areas outside the facilities for needed maintenance upkeep.
Ability to respond to emergency situations and act as primary person in charge.
Ability to assist in program and room set up and tear down when necessary.
At least four to five years of related professional experience.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Understanding of building code and practices preferred, with a builder's license helpful.
Thorough understanding of federal and state preservation regulations and ordinances is required.
Knowledge of new technologies and applications for building efficiencies.
Knowledge of current trends in energy efficiency.
Must possess a current, valid Michigan Driver's License with a driving history that does not create liability concerns; which includes, but is not limited to, convictions for reckless driving, careless driving, suspended license, or convictions involving drinking and impaired driving.
