About the role

B&D Industrial is seeking a SolidWorks Operator to join our team. This position is for a draftsman working in a gearbox rebuild shop to make drawings of parts to manufacture replacements. The operator will implement calipers, inside and outside micrometers, angle finders, hardness testers, and other devices to measure machine parts and use SolidWorks to create a manufacturing drawing to reproduce an identical part. FARO Arm CMM technology may also be used to measure parts. The operator will work closely with on-site mechanics and engineers to determine what components must be drawn. This position reports to the This position reports to the Director - GRS Technical Services.

Fulltime, Hours typically 8-5 or 7:30 to 4:30

Overtime can be required

Salary range is based on experience

Responsibilities

Use measuring instruments to dimension and identify machine parts

Create 3D models and 2D drawings of parts in SolidWorks to reproduce the same part

Verify that the dimensions of parts are correct using 2D manufacture drawings as a guide

Use FARO Arm CMM technology to measure parts

Use industry standards to determine tolerances of drawing dimensions

Candidate requirements

HS Diploma/GED request

Successful candidates must submit to post offer pre-employment physical examination, drug screen, and have an acceptable 3-year Motor Vehicle Report as may be required by current company policy.

Qualifications

Proficient in SolidWorks software, especially 3D models, assemblies, 2D drawings, and simulation (certification a plus)

Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

Ability to read and comprehend manufacture drawings and industry standards

Experience with micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments

Experience with FARO CAM2 Software a plus

Work involves:

moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Work environment involves some exposure to hazards, chemicals, or physical risk, which require following basic safety precautions to include the use of PPE.

For the most part ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in typical office environment.
