Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer with strong experience in P&ID development, HVAC and hydronic piping design, and advanced Revit production to support complex projects in the science and technology market sector (data centers, mission-critical facilities, advanced manufacturing, and R&D environments). This role is hands-on, technically rigorous, and central to delivering high-quality construction documents.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain mechanical P&IDs, including control points, instrumentation, valves, and equipment relationships
Produce detailed HVAC, hydronic, and process piping drawings from concept through IFC
Lead Revit-based mechanical modeling efforts for complex building systems
Create, modify, and maintain custom Revit families (equipment, valves, fittings, specialties, parametric content)
Coordinate mechanical layouts with electrical, structural, architectural, and controls disciplines
Apply firm and project drafting standards, BIM execution plans, and naming conventions
Support clash detection, constructability reviews, and model QA/QC
Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance as needed
Assist engineers with design development, redlines, and technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in mechanical design for complex facilities
Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit (mechanical systems modeling required)
Demonstrated experience developing P&IDs for HVAC, cooling, or process systems
Strong background in HVAC and piping systems (chilled water, condenser water, process cooling, etc.)
Experience creating and managing custom Revit families
Solid understanding of construction documentation and coordination workflows
Ability to work independently and manage multiple deliverables concurrently
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in science & technology markets (data centers, mission-critical, semiconductor, life sciences, advanced manufacturing)
Familiarity with BIM automation tools (Dynamo, scripting, content libraries)
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices (ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.)
Experience working in fast-paced, high-reliability design environments.
