Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Birmingham, AL area
Salary: $80,000–$90,000+
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, equipment, and factory layouts to maximize efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness. This role is highly visible on the production floor and focuses on fixing systems—not symptoms—by identifying root causes and driving sustainable process improvements.
The Manufacturing Engineer owns the identification and documentation of production problems, ensures process and standard work integrity, and leads fixtures and tooling development to support safe, repeatable, and efficient operations. This position works closely with cross-functional teams and “lives on the floor” to support daily production needs while driving long-term improvements.
The role includes supporting new equipment setup and automation initiatives, participating in concurrent process development, and providing technical leadership for continuous improvement efforts. Collaboration with Finance, Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, and Structuring is essential to resolve production issues, manage costs, and support future manufacturing requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Systems
3–5 years of relevant manufacturing experience (sheet metal preferred)
Proven ability to identify, document, and resolve production problems
Experience with fixtures, tooling, and process validation
Strong focus on process integrity and standard work integrity
Hands-on, floor-focused mindset with strong root cause problem-solving skills
Knowledge of lean and quality manufacturing systems
Experience with capital equipment evaluation and cost analysis
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
