Summary:

To help us manage, maintain and transform the growing and diverse application landscape, Cboe Clear Europe N.V. (Cboe Clear) is looking to expand its IT Infrastructure and Run department with an enthusiastic, dynamic IT System Engineer specialized in Kubernetes and Kafka administration.

Job requirements and responsibilities

The IT Infrastructure and Run department is responsible for both Cboe Clear’s IT Infrastructure and business processing. The IT Infra team maintains all systems used for Cboe Clear EU’s business processing and development from datacenters based in the Netherlands.

The ideal candidate will have experience in ensuring IT infrastructure is efficient, reliable, and secure. You will be looking for continuous improvement and strive for operational excellence.

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Kubernetes Administrator with additional expertise in Apache Kafka administration. This role is critical to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our containerized applications and real-time data streaming infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments and administering Kafka for high-throughput, low-latency data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

Kubernetes Administration

Deploy, manage, and monitor Kubernetes clusters (on-premises and/or cloud-based)

Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of containerized workloads

Manage cluster upgrades, patching, and backup strategies

Troubleshoot cluster issues and optimize resource usage

Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Gitlab, Helm and ArgoCD

Kafka Administration

Install, configure, and maintain Apache Kafka clusters

Monitor Kafka performance, availability, and reliability

Manage Kafka topics, partitions, consumer groups, and ACLs

Implement Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, and Kafka Streams where applicable

Ensure data integrity and security across Kafka pipelines

General Infrastructure & DevOps

Collaborate with development and operations teams to support microservices architecture

Automate infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform or Salt Stack

Maintain observability using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK or similar tools

Participate in on-call rotations and incident response

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

3+ years of experience with Kubernetes in production environments

2+ years of experience administering Apache Kafka

Strong knowledge of Linux systems and networking

Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) and infrastructure-as-code

Experience with monitoring and logging tools

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus

Preferred Certifications

Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

Certified Administrator for Apache Kafka
