Sr Software Developer

Seeking a Sr Software Developer for application development in the modernization of CMW from Perl/MySQL to Java/React/MariaDB on an AWS platform.

Duration: contract position/through 6-30-26 with extension(s)

Work location: Columbus (hybrid: at least 3 days a week onsite)

Responsibilities:

-Expert guidance & validation: Provide deep expertise to project teams, review deliverables (like system requirements, test results) for accuracy, and validate that solutions meet defined standards.

-Knowledge transfer & training: Simplify complex technical information for development team, develop high level documentation, and mentor team members.

-Problem solving & improvement: Analyze business operations, identify areas for technical improvement, troubleshooting issues & recommend new technologies or process enhancements.

-Requirements definition: Translate business needs into technical requirements, define procedures, and set performance standards for tasks.

-Development: Develop modernized code components as time permits, conduct peer reviews, pair programming.

-System & UAT/testing: Plan and review results of system testing and user acceptance testing activities.

Experience/skills:

-Communicating, analyzing, and resolving technical development issues and risks

-Designing test plans and testing Java applications

-Using AI to facilitate application development and testing

-Application modernization on an AWS or Azure platform.

Skill Required/ Desired Amount of Experience

Expert in all versions of the Perl Programming Language Required 10 years

-Java, React full-stack development-Required 10 years

-MySQL & MariaDB-Required 10 years

-Construction Management subject matter expertise-Highly Desired

-Communicating, analyzing & resolving technical development issues & risks-Highly Desired

-Designing test plans and testing Java applications-Highly Desired

-Application modernization on AWS or Azure platforms-Highly Desired
