Description:

The goal of the SUNY Security Operations Center (SOC) is to provide resources to improve Information Security services University-wide, and to do so in ways that provide consistent, cost-effective, preemptive, and equally secure operations. The SUNY SOC engages with campuses to provide services that help improve the security posture of campus networks. The small team of SOC analysts is continually improving the tools and processes that are used as part of the offered penetration tests and vulnerability assessments. By constantly researching vulnerabilities and exploits, the SOC detects where a campus could be susceptible to attack and gives recommendations to remediate those attack paths.

SUNY Security Operations Center (SOC) is partnering with SUNY campuses to provide SUNY students with Cybersecurity internship opportunities. SUNY students with an interest in learning about and participating in offensive security operations can apply for a paid internship opportunity. SOC interns will perform assigned work for the SUNY SOC as they engage with campuses on penetration tests and vulnerability assessments. Participating in these tasks will provide learning opportunities about the cybersecurity practices at SUNY campuses and the offensive side of the cybersecurity discipline.
