We are searching for a Student Worker - Peer Coach at our Bryan Campus.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:

Job Summary

Themain objectives of the peer coaching position are to help recruit, engage, andretain students with a background in foster care and ensure they are accessingand utilizing resources/ benefits available due to their status as formerfoster youth, with particular attention to state tuition and fee waiverutilization. Peer coaches will work directly with identified students as theybecome familiar with Blinn College's campus resources and any benefits orservices for which the students may be eligible (i.e. state tuition and feewaiver, Education and Training Vouchers, Supervised Independent Livingprograms, etc.). Peer coaches will engage students with experience in fostercare by directly reaching out to students and provide individual andprogrammatic support as appropriate. Peer coaches will work directly with andbe supervised by the CPS Liaison in the Office of DisabilityServices. Further, peer coaches will work directly with Education Reach forTexas staff to learn, practice, and document use of a peer coaching model aspart of a pilot program to increase engagement and access to campus andcommunity resources and the state tuition and fee waiver.

Principal Accountabilities

• Job duties can be flexed, and work may be done aroundclass schedules.

• Ability to follow through on assigned tasks and work independently.

• Attend all scheduled meetings.

• Applicants should be familiar with campus processes at Blinn College Districtincluding but not limited to making appointments with academic advisors, classregistration, accessing campus and DFPS resources, etc.

• Provide outreach and engagement to students at Blinn identified as havinglived experience in the foster care system.

• Practice utilization of a peer coaching model being piloted for the project(training will be provided).

• Assist in assessment of student needs and eligibility for other services andbenefits and connect students to resources as appropriate with the support ofthe institution's higher education foster care liaison.

• Assist in determining student eligibility for the Texas Department of Familyand Protective Services (Child Protective Services) state tuition and feewaiver for former foster youth.

• Track all touchpoints and other data related to the project and report on aregular basis to grant staff (training provided).

• Attend all in-person and online trainings and professional developmentrelated to the peer coaching model/pilot project and engagement of studentswith experience in foster care (i.e. Peer coaching training, Education Reachfor Texans annual conference and webinars, regional meeting etc.).

• Maintain a simple budget of money spent to engage students/provide studentprogramming.

Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications

Must be at least half-time studentMust have excellent written and verbal communications, organizational, andpublic relations skills.

Computer literacy and ability to learn proprietary software.

Minimum Competencies

Ability to work within a team environment.

Must be dependable, self-motived and able to assist the office. Ability to planahead, adhere to confidentiality requirements and be on time.

Must be self-motivated and proficient in handling remote work.

Preferred Qualifications

Studentswith lived experience in the foster care system to serve as peercoaches. The peer coaches will work alongside Blinn College District highereducation foster care liaison and Education Reach for Texans staff to engagestudents with a background in foster care and connect them with resources andbenefits for which they are eligible.
