Under general direction, is responsible for managing utility metering, repair, or service activities; performs related duties as required.
Additional Job Information:
This full-time Utility Service Manager position will be overseeing the Department of Columbus Water and Power, Division of Power. This position will be responsible for managing and overseeing utility metering. It will supervise and manage utility metering personnel and oversee metering operations and system performance. This position develops operating procedures, goals, and objectives for the work section. This position will plan, schedule, and coordinate work activities. It will prepare the budget and resource management. Complete reports, documentation and correspondence of reviews, customer issues and system reliability. It will perform technical consultation and customer development, review job drawings, and install paperwork.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Monitors and reviews the activities of work units engaged in utility metering, repair, or service activities;
Develops operating procedures, goals, and objectives for the work section;
Evaluates performance of personnel by developing work standards and completing performance appraisals;
Prepares or reviews the preparation of supply, material, and equipment and bid specifications;
Develops and reviews required reports and correspondence regarding utility metering, repair, or service activities;
Prepares or directs the preparation of annual budgets and the procurement process;
Participates in the design, modification, or construction process of residential and commercial meter and device installations;
Monitors and coordinates computerized metering systems to ensure accurate data acquisition;
Participates in professional activities to remain knowledgeable of developments in utility metering, repair, or service activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of the twelfth school grade, three (3) years of experience supervising employees engaged in the installation, maintenance, reading, testing, inspection, repair, or replacement of metering systems or related items. Substitution(s): A certificate of high school equivalence (GED) may be substituted for the required education.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.

The examination process will consist of a multiple-choice Experience Evaluation weighted 100%.
The exam is expected to be administered in late February - early March. Approved applicants will be notified by mail/email of their scheduled test date and time.
All applicants must complete all phases of the testing process in order to receive a final score. The names of all candidates who pass this examination will remain on the eligible list for two years, unless the eligible list is replaced prior to or extended beyond the two years. If a candidate's name is certified and the candidate is to be considered for employment, the hiring process will include one or more interviews, a criminal background check, and a pre-employment drug test.
