Position Summary
The Development Manager plays a key role in advancing CSI’s mission by continuing to build and expand a comprehensive fundraising program. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position is responsible for strengthening community relationships, growing individual giving, and managing foundation relations and grant writing efforts.
The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder, strong communicator, and organized fundraiser who is passionate about inclusive, person-centered disability services and eager to help CSI deepen its impact.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Resource Development
Support and grow CSI’s annual fundraising strategy in partnership with the COO
Manage and expand individual giving efforts, including donor cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation
Identify, research, and pursue new funding opportunities aligned with CSI’s mission
Assist with donor communications, appeals, and fundraising campaigns throughout the year Foundation & Grant Relations
Research prospective foundations and funding opportunities
Prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals, reports, and follow-up communications
Maintain a grants calendar to ensure timely submissions and compliance with funder requirements
Build and sustain positive relationships with foundation partners Community Relations & Engagement
Strengthen CSI’s presence in the community through partnerships, outreach, and engagement opportunities
Represent CSI at community events and meetings, as appropriate
Collaborate with internal teams to identify stories and outcomes that demonstrate impact Collaboration & Administration
Work closely with the COO and internal stakeholders to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities
Track fundraising activity, donor interactions, and grant outcomes using Donor Perfect, CSI’s CRM database
Support accurate record-keeping, reporting, and acknowledgement of gifts
Assist with other development-related projects as needed Qualifications
Commitment to CSI’s mission and values, including inclusion and person-centered support
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in fundraising, nonprofit management, or a related field
3+ years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or grant writing preferred
Demonstrated success with individual giving and/or grant writing
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively Preferred Experience
Experience in disability services, human services, or mission-driven nonprofit organizations
Familiarity with Donor Perfect or similar donor databases and CRM systems
Experience working with boards or volunteers on fundraising efforts
