Job Description:
We Are Seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as a platform administrator for a large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) built on the Teradata ecosystem. This role supports high-performance analytics, data mining, and enterprise decision-support capabilities across multiple environments. The position plays a critical role in platform strategy, performance optimization, security compliance, and technical leadership while providing expert guidance to database and infrastructure teams.
Responsibilities:
• Administer and support the Enterprise Data Warehouse across Production, Test, and Development/Disaster Recovery environments
• Perform platform provisioning, upgrades, patching, and ongoing software maintenance
• Monitor platform health, performance, capacity, and availability, resolving issues proactively
• Manage Teradata nodes, workload management, and resource optimization
• Administer Teradata monitoring, management, and utility tools
• Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning and execution
• Perform performance tuning and troubleshoot complex platform issues
• Support and optimize ETL processes and data integration workflows
• Coordinate vendor communications, escalated troubleshooting, and release management
• Provide operating system guidance and EDW security expertise
• Develop and maintain audit documentation, security plans, and compliance artifacts
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and regulatory security requirements
• Research, define, and support long-term EDW platform strategies
• Provide direct technical expertise and mentoring to database administrators and enterprise specialists
• Advise stakeholders on platform capabilities, enhancements, and best practices
Required Skills:
3+ Years Experience Required in the following:
• 3+ years of experience administering Teradata database platforms
• Experience with platform upgrades, provisioning, and software maintenance
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python, and related tools
• Experience monitoring Teradata ecosystem health and platform services
• Experience with Teradata node management and Viewpoint administration
• Experience with Teradata Tools and Utilities (TTU)
• Experience with Platform Service Intelligent Monitoring (PSIM)
• Experience managing Teradata vendor upgrades
• Experience with Teradata workload management
• Experience with Teradata backup and recovery solutions
• Strong performance tuning and resource optimization skills
• Experience supporting ETL processes
• Knowledge of firewall concepts and secure network configurations
• Strong Unix/Linux operating system knowledge
• Understanding of cloud computing fundamentals, including resource allocation and networking (preferably Microsoft Azure)
• Knowledge of statistics and data analysis concepts
• Experience supporting audits and developing security plans
• Familiarity with federal and regulatory requirements such as NIST 800-53, IRS Publication 1075, and other regulated data standards
