Job Description
Seeking an electrical designer via agency contract to support the Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR) program The position reports to the EI&C System Design manager. The role centers on electrical design of equipment, raceway, mounting, and engineering analysis support as well as integration of said design into the overall plant and associated 3D models and systems. You’ll collaborate with the electrical and plant layout teams to develop electrical/I&C models, designs, and drawings in support of electrical and I&C design solutions, 3D CAD models, and engineering drawings for the conceptual, preliminary, and final design development of advanced Generation IV nuclear reactors. Candidates must have extensive experience in electrical design and drafting using a mainstream CAD system.
Tasks
Generate and maintain plant design and layout in AutoCAD Plant 3D based design projects.
Develop electrical models for cable tray and electrical conduit systems, instrumentation, cabinets, junction boxes, and other electrical equipment.
Develop drawings such as wiring schematics, junction box diagrams, and panel layouts.
Support the development of cable schedules and tray/conduit schedules.
Produce or incorporate 3D CAD models from other 3D software to facilitate design evolution and derivative creation.
Ensure and maintain configuration control of models/drawings.
Use model configurations to support analysis needs, such as: Electrical Conduit and Raceway layout and analysis, Electrical load lists, Electrical loading analysis, Fault analysis, Component environmental analysis, Code Compliance, etc.
Collaborate with system engineers to develop system functional block diagrams (BFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), single line diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, instrumentation supports, and Equipment mounting details.
Create and review engineering drawings equipment arrangements, piping arrangements, isometrics, layouts, details, interface control etc.
Leverage the capability of the AutoCAD Plant 3D database to produce required engineering lists such as equipment lists, line lists, instrumentation lists, bills of material, etc.
Check and review drawings for accuracy of information and conformance to industry and TerraPower drafting standards via electronic redline process.
Document design progress, changes, and decisions via TerraPower’s internal & external online collaboration workspaces.
Compile and maintain a model review file for engineers and staff utilizing a user-friendly software package such as Autodesk Navisworks.
Use AutoCAD Electrical Software to generate drawings and communicate electrical and I&C design information.
Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including the National Electrical Code, the Washington State\Seattle Energy Washington Administrative Code, the Idaho Administrative Code (WAC)Codes, the FGI Guidelines, NFPA 72, 99, 101, and 110, and IEEE 384.
Key Qualifications and Skills
Trade School or associate’s degree
6 years - 10 years of relevant design experience
CAD proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D and Navisworks.
Creative thinker with strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to work multiple tasks concurrently with minimum direction to solve challenging problems
Organized and detail oriented, with excellent writing and communication skills
The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trustworthiness and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork
Demonstrated experience with plant layout, piping layout, PFD, and P&ID creation
Experience checking design and fabrication drawings
Experience in commercial/industrial Electrical, and Instrumentation &Control and Design
Demonstrated experience with plant layout, P&ID creation, and Electrical Wiring and Single Line Diagrams.
Strong communication skills are highly desired.
