This role focuses on delivering specialized nursing care in a step-down unit for general medical and oncology patients.
The position requires a proficient Registered Nurse with experience in progressive care or step-down settings, particularly skilled in chemotherapy administration and intravenous therapy.
Key Qualifications and Experience:Active Michigan RN license and BLS certification.Current ONCC or ONS certification is mandatory.Minimum of 2 years experience in PCU/Stepdown nursing.Skilled in administering chemotherapy via IV and starting IVs.Familiarity with Welch Allyn Vital Sign towers, Sigma IV pumps, and EPIC documentation system.
Responsibilities include:Providing care for general medical and oncology step-down patients.Maintaining nurse-to-patient ratios typically ranging from 1:4 to 1:6, with adjustments during chemotherapy admissions.Floating to other medical-surgical areas, including acute units and the emergency room, as needed.Collaborating with support staff and charge nurses to ensure quality patient care.Participating in nights shifts, specifically 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.Working every other weekend with potential block scheduling accommodations upon request.
Schedule & Hours:Night shifts, 3x 12 hours (19:0007:30).Weekend shifts every other weekend.Floating assignments within medical-surgical units and emergency department.First two weeks of the assignment availability is required.Shift requests and time-off are managed on-site with the managers approval.
