We're currently seeking a Lead Software Engineer to play a crucial role in building scalable and reliable systems that empower our Employer Partners to manage education benefits effectively.
In this role, you will develop essential tools and services that facilitate eligibility processing, policy management, and data onboarding, ensuring employees benefit from Guild's career opportunity programs.

Your responsibilities will include:
Designing and implementing robust and scalable systems for data onboarding, eligibility workflows, and benefit policy administration.
Developing backend services, APIs, ETL pipelines, and internal tools utilizing a serverless architecture (AWS Lambda, Glue, S3, API Gateway).
Writing clean, testable, and maintainable code in TypeScript/Node.js and Python following industry best practices.
Ensuring system observability, security, and performance with tools like Datadog and CloudWatch.
Working closely with engineers, product managers, designers, operations personnel, and customer technical teams to deliver impactful features.
Writing and maintaining comprehensive tests (unit, contract, BDD, and end-to-end), and supporting CI/CD pipelines for consistent delivery.
Participating in Agile ceremonies and on-call rotations, focusing on production readiness and system health.
Contributing to system architecture decisions, maintaining technical documentation, and mentoring junior developers.
You will be a great fit if you have:
5+ years of hands-on experience with: TypeScript/Node.js, Python, React, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, GraphQL, REST APIs.
Experience with AWS tools: Lambda, Glue, API Gateway, S3, EventBridge, SQS, Secrets Manager, CDK, Serverless Framework.
Knowledge of: ETL pipeline development, CSV/API data ingestion, data transformation, and event-driven architecture.
Testing & Tooling: Jest, Pact, Cypress, Gherkin, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (AWS CDK/CloudFormation).
AI Experience: Background in integrating LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI) and developing AI-powered features like virtual assistants and summarization tools. Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) in production settings.
Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
Adeptness at balancing technical decisions with business objectives to deliver practical solutions.

This role offers a competitive total compensation package, including a base salary between $150,000 and $180,000, along with stock options. Compensation is based on various factors such as experience, competencies, and internal equity.
