Job Description
Entry to Mid level Front End Software Developer
Location: Pittsburgh, PA (On-site)
Company: Instinct Robotics
Type: Full-time
Visa: Visa sponsorship available
About Instinct Robotics
Instinct Robotics builds AI-powered robotic systems for industrial manufacturing. Our robots autonomously scan, plan, and execute complex material-removal tasks in real production environments. We deploy production systems to factories, which means our software must be fast, reliable, and intuitive for operators.
The Role
We’re looking for a Frontend Software Engineer to own and build the operator-facing interfaces of our robotic control system. This role focuses on frontend architecture, and real-time interaction, sitting on top of an existing robotics backend and system architecture.
You’ll work closely with product designer and Robotics and Systems engineers, but ROS / ROS2 experience is optional—we can teach the robotics side. What matters most is building clean, responsive, production-grade interfaces for complex systems.
What You’ll Work On
Building and maintaining web-based UIs for robot operation, monitoring, and configuration
Designing frontend architectures that interface with real-time robotic systems
Implementing dashboards for robot state, task progress, alerts, and logs
Improving user experience for industrial operators (clarity, safety, efficiency)
Integrating frontend with backend APIs, streaming data, and system events
Supporting on-site testing and iteration with real robots
Requirements
Strong frontend engineering fundamentals
Experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g. React, TypeScript, or similar)
Experience designing complex, stateful UIs (dashboards, control panels, monitoring tools)
Comfort working with real-time or event-driven data (WebSockets, streams, polling, etc.)
Willingness to work on-site with hardware and robotics teams
Strong debugging and communication skills
Nice to Have (Not Required)
Experience with robotics, ROS, or ROS2
Experience with industrial, scientific, or system-control UIs
Familiarity with backend APIs or system architecture
Experience in startups or fast-moving engineering teams
Compensation and benefits
Base salary: $83,000 – $145,000, depending on experience
We are able to sponsor international candidates who require work authorisation,
including F-1 STEM OPT and H-1B
The pay offered for this position may vary based on individual factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components or benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
Equity and health-care benefits are available for full-time employees.
