Job Title: Network Support Technician
Position Summary
The Network Support Technician is responsible for the support, implementation, and maintenance of LAN and WAN data communications networks, including network access and security systems. This role ensures reliable, secure, and high-performance network operations while supporting both physical and virtual network infrastructures. The Network Support Technician collaborates with senior engineers, architects, and IT teams to provide technical solutions, troubleshoot network issues, and maintain documentation in alignment with industry best practices and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Network Implementation (30%)
Install, configure, and manage LAN/WAN networks, remote connectivity solutions, and DNS infrastructure
Recommend technical solutions and interface with vendors for procurement and implementation
Support physical installations, cabling, and network device configurationsNetwork Troubleshooting & Problem Solving (25%)
Diagnose and resolve network issues using tools such as ping, traceroute, and diagnostic utilities
Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions to minimize downtimeNetwork Documentation (15%)
Update and maintain network diagrams, configuration records, and documentation
Support network planning, architecture, and development of technical standardsNetwork Performance (10%)
Monitor network health, bandwidth utilization, and capacity planning using available tools
Recommend improvements to enhance network efficiency and reliabilityRemote Access Management (10%)
Manage VPN and remote connectivity solutions
Identify technical solutions to enable secure and efficient remote accessProcess & ITIL Support (10%)
Contribute to development and deployment of ITIL-based processes
Perform duties aligned with defined ITIL roles and responsibilitiesMinimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
1-3 years of experience in network support or engineering
Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, subnetting, OSI model, and related networking concepts
Experience with link-state routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
Understanding of VLANs, spanning tree, speed/duplex settings, and wireless topologies
Troubleshooting experience using tools and methodologies for network analysisDesired Qualifications
Network certifications preferred (e.g., JNCIA, JNCIS)
Experience managing medium-to-large networks including routers, switches, and security devices
Familiarity with DNS, DHCP, UNIX, and related network services
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to evaluate and recommend technical solutions
Experience in enterprise healthcare or large organizational networks is a plusInformation Security Responsibilities
