Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports the Manufacturing Engineer in implementing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing processes, tools, and documentation. This role plays a hands-on part in executing lean manufacturing initiatives, conducting line balancing studies, setting up workstations, and gathering production data for continuous improvement (CI) activities. The Engineering Technician works closely with both engineering and production teams to ensure efficient, safe, and repeatable processes that meet quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Manufacturing Engineer in implementing and updating standard work instructions and production documentation.
Assist with line balancing activities, including time studies, data collection, and workstation layout trials.
Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives, such as 5S events, visual management implementation, and process mapping.
Build and maintain tools, fixtures, and assembly aids per specifications; provide feedback for improvements.
Perform hands-on troubleshooting of production process issues under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineer.
Support setup and execution of pilot runs, new product introductions (NPI), and manufacturing validations.
Collect and summarize data related to cycle times, downtime, and process yields for CI analysis.
Help implement and sustain workplace organization, safety enhancements, and ergonomic improvements.
Assist with training production team members on updated procedures and work instructions.
Document as-built tooling and equipment modifications for traceability and future reference.
Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used during builds, process trials, and modifications.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Hands-on technical/mechanical aptitude.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts (5S, waste elimination, standard work).
Ability to follow detailed technical instructions and engineering drawings.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Organized, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious.
Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Team player with willingness to take direction and adapt to evolving priorities.
Qualifications:
These are the minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job:
High School Diploma an 5+ years of relevant experience OR Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field with 2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience assisting with process improvements or lean projects is a plus.
Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks) a plus.
Ability to read technical drawings and understand mechanical assemblies.
Work Environment: Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments. Requires regular interaction on the production floor for process validation and improvement. Appropriate PPE, including safety glasses and protective clothing, must be worn as required by location and task.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, and arms
Frequently requires the use of finders and hands to handle, feel, grasp and manipulate small parts & tools with precision and dexterity.
Frequently requires one to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to walk, stoop, bend, and reach above shoulder height and below waist height regularly.
Visual acuity is required for reading travelers, instructions, inspections of parts and products.
Must be able to communicate with managers and coworkers in a noisy environment.
