Tool Design Engineer

Why do we need you ? CertainTeed's Design/Build Group is looking to hire a Tool Design Engineer in Jackson, MI.

This exciting opportunity will enable you to be innovative as well as provide you the opportunity to apply your technical and practical knowledge to the development of tooling and equipment for new products as well as enhance existing products.

Essential Functions: * Tooling and equipment engineering & design along with operational support including existing improvements and new product development.

* Oversee assembly of new equipment, support prototypes, and lead or assist in stage gate approach.

* Train and develop manufacturing facility crews and evaluate potential patent and benchmarking opportunities.

The Development Center, where this position is based, is located in Jackson, Michigan, which is 30 minutes from Lansing and Ann Arbor and just over an hour from Detroit.

Is this job for you ? * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Design Engineering required and 3 years of experience preferably within a manufacturing or R&D environment or entry level Master's degree.

* Experience and ability to troubleshoot tooling (extrusion, roll form, stamping, injection mold) * Effective in the presentation and communication of technical material and have an in-depth mechanical background, with hands-on understanding of machining practices and equipment and operations design * Strong demonstrated CAD skills * Knowledge in machining operations for manufacturing * Excellent project management skills are desired.
