Lumenance is seeking a full\-time engineer to develop (3D + 2D CAD) wire harnesses, junction boxes, and related electrical components and sub\-systems for our client in the commercial vehicle market.
This is a contract\-to\-direct position with a growing manufacturer.
div> div> JOB SUMMARY h4> div>Designs new, high voltage electrical distribution systems (EDS), low voltage wiring harness products and makes improvements to existing products.
Evaluates products and processes for cost efficiency and reliability.
Works with other members to ensure that production is completed in a timely manner.
Ensures that products, processes, and documentation conform to specifications and customer requirements.
div> div>RESPONSIBILITIES h4> div tDesigns electrical distribution system (EDS) products to meet all customer requirements and internal design standards, including high voltage wiring and smart junction boxes.
div> div tDesigns high Voltage Cables and Connectors and work directly with their suppliers div> div tDesigns low voltage wiring harnesses and battery cables div> div tGenerates a Bill of Material (BOM) and prints for product designs.
div> div tCoordinates with Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to assess product and processing costs and ensure that program cost targets are achieved.
div> div tCoordinates 3D designs to package components and create schematics \- has full design responsibility.
div> div tDefine retention, convolute, tapes.
div> div tProvides proposals on cost/weight reduction to enhance productivity.
div> div tCoordinates all program status review meetings, design review meetings, and harness trial builds with customer, manufacturing, and purchasing.
div> div tAttends customer meetings and build events.
div> div tMaintains a program open issues list to track all issues (i.e., design, system, manufacturing, purchasing, and customer) which are related to the program.
div> div tReviews the open issues list with the customer, manufacturing, and purchasing.
div> div tCoordinates program timing, PPAP, and master sample reviews.
div> div tSupports future business opportunities by working closely with the Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing groups.
div> div>WORKING CONDITIONS h4> div tGeneral Engineering Office Environment, or potential remote work from home (for right experience) div> div tTravel to customer and occasional travel to plants div> div div> div span> Requirements h3>\• 5+ years of experience in engineering or a related technical area div> div>\• Engineering degree in a relevant discipline div> div tExperience designing new high voltage wire harness and cable assemblies div> div tExperience designing smart junction boxes, including routing and wire gauge selection div> div tDemonstrated knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, understanding of engineering/technical requirements and standards.
div> div tKnowledge of automotive (or similar transportation industry) component development and production processes, wire harness assembly processes, wire harness components div> div tComputer Aided Design (CAD) systems (CATIA) \- preferably CATIAV6 div> div tDesign Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA). div> div tProficiency in using MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word also recommended div span>
