Job Description
Responsibilities
Design and engineer HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings in accordance with applicable codes and standards
Perform heating and cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, and system selections
Develop mechanical construction documents, drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD and/or Revit
Coordinate HVAC design with plumbing, electrical, fire protection, architectural, and structural disciplines
Conduct field investigations, site surveys, and existing condition assessments
Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and respond to contractor inquiries during construction
Support energy efficiency initiatives, system optimization, and sustainable design strategies
Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE, IMC, SMACNA, and local building codes
Participate in client meetings and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle
Assist with construction administration, commissioning support, and project closeout activities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
3+ years of experience in HVAC design within an MEP consulting environment
Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems including air distribution, hydronic systems, chillers, boilers, and controls
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (MEP)
Experience performing load calculations and energy modeling
Understanding of ASHRAE standards, IMC, and local building codes
Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred; Professional Engineer (PE) a plus
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and coordination skills with internal teams and external stakeholders
