Position Summary
MOXI, The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation, is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and detail-oriented individual to manage and run all aspects of the museum store while delivering a high level of guest service. The ideal candidate will be driven, guest service-focused, highly responsible, and committed to the smooth and successful operation of the store and the museum in general. This person is eager to connect with guests and enhance their experience.
Report to: Associate Director of Operations
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday - 9:00 am - 5:30 pm
Pay: $24-$26/Hour
Responsibilities:
Manage and run all facets of the museum store, including but not limited to:
Daily oversight of the museum store.
Build an annual buying plan based off seasons, sales, new products, and MOXI branded merchandise.
Buying product to be sold based on sales data, sales trends, and new product releases.
Establishing and maintaining vendor relations via email, phone, and occasional in-person meetings.
Receiving, pricing, and stickering incoming merchandise.
Merchandise in accordance with best sellers, new products, and current trends.
Inventory management which includes loss prevention techniques to prevent shrink.
Training Guest Services staff on store operations.
Be the museum manager on duty (MOD) as scheduled, which includes:
Opening and closing the museum.
Ensure exhibits are turned on and off in a timely manner.
Providing the best-in-class guest service.
Respond to incidents and complaints.
Follow and enforce MOXI's safety and security protocol.
Following daily MOD procedures.
Assist other departments when needed.
Maintain current knowledge of museum exhibits, events, programs, and membership.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements, Skills & Qualifications:
Excellent guest service skills.
Merchandising.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
Conscientious and detail-oriented; must have an appreciation of the necessity of following through with paperwork, record-keeping, and documentation.
Ability to organize and prioritize varied tasks in a manner that most effectively serves the needs of the organization.
Excellent interpersonal skills: must be receptive to the ideas of others and able to work cooperatively to prioritize tasks and accommodate many different and conflicting concerns.
Passion for creating a world-class museum that is recognized as a truly outstanding educational experience.
Enthusiasm for working in an organization where change is frequent, the structure is evolving, and flexibility, teamwork, and good humor are absolute necessities.
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new systems and adapt to emerging technologies.
Awareness of issues relating to access and inclusion and the ability to build inclusive and accessible programs.
Education and Experience requirements:
Two years of retail experience.
Two years merchandising experience.
Two years of guest service experience.
Supervision or management experience preferred but not necessary.
Spanish fluency a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Must be able to bend, squat, reach high above shoulders, reach low below knees, lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
Additional Information
This position is expected to work onsite.
This position schedule is normally Sunday - Thursday with the flexibility to work an occasional early morning, evening shift, and/or holiday.
Predictable and timely attendance is required.
Position must be able to bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs.; work with multiple technologies; stand for extended periods of time; troubleshoot and problem solves; and communicate effectively and courteously with a variety of people verbally and in writing.
