Job Description

AssetWatch serves global manufacturers by powering manufacturing uptime through the delivery of an unparalleled condition monitoring experience, with a passion to care about the assets our customers care for every day. We are a devoted and capable team that includes world-renowned engineers and distinguished business leaders united by a common goal – To build the future of predictive maintenance. As we enter the next phase of rapid growth, we are seeking people to help lead the journey.

AssetWatch is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineering Manager to lead and scale our hardware engineering organization as we grow from an 8-person, mixed-discipline engineering team to ~20 engineers over the next two years. This role is both hands-on and strategic—ideal for a leader who combines deep IoT hardware expertise with strong people management and process-building skills. This leader must be deeply technical, hands-on when needed, and skilled at translating product requirements into scalable, manufacturable, customer-ready solutions.

The Senior Hardware Engineering Manager will be responsible for setting technical direction, building repeatable engineering processes, and developing a high-performing team capable of delivering reliable, scalable IIoT products.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Product Leadership

Lead the design, development, and delivery of IIoT hardware systems, including embedded devices, sensors, connectivity modules, and supporting electronics

Partner closely with internal software, product, and external contract manufacturing teams to ensure end-to-end system reliability

Guide architecture decisions related to power management, connectivity (BLE, Wi-Fi, cellular, LPWAN), security, and scalability

Review designs for quality, manufacturability (DFM/DFA), reliability, and regulatory compliance (FCC, CE, UL, Carrier, etc.)

People Management & Team Growth

Directly manage and mentor cross-discipline engineers (EE, ME, Firmware, and Test)

Hire, onboard, and develop talent to scale the team

Establish clear roles, career paths, performance expectations, and feedback mechanisms

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Process & Organizational Scaling

Build and implement engineering processes that scale: requirements management, design reviews, documentation standards, change control, and release management

Introduce structure without unnecessary bureaucracy—balancing speed with quality

Establish project planning, estimation, and execution frameworks to support predictable delivery

Define metrics for engineering health (quality, velocity, reliability, team effectiveness)

Execution & Cross-Functional Leadership

Own hardware delivery timelines and resource planning

Act as a key stakeholder in product planning and roadmap discussions

Collaborate with operations, PMO, supply chain, and contract manufacturing partners to support ramp and scale

Communicate clearly with leadership on risks, tradeoffs, and progress

Required Qualifications

8+ years of experience in hardware engineering, with significant exposure to IoT and/or IIoT products

3+ years managing and growing engineering teams

Strong understanding of embedded hardware systems, including PCB design, power systems, sensors, and wireless connectivity

Proven experience building processes and structure in a growing or early-stage organization

Track record of successfully delivering products from concept through production

Excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience scaling engineering teams in startup or high-growth environments

Familiarity with manufacturing ramp, supply chain constraints, and contract manufacturers

Background working with globally distributed teams or vendors

Experience managing mixed-discipline teams (electrical, firmware, test, mechanical)

Experience in industrial monitoring, predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, or reliability engineering.
