The position

The Aga Khan Academy Mombasa is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in delivering high-quality catering services for our boarding and day school community. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the provision of nutritious, well-balanced, and safely prepared meals that meet the expectations of an international institution environment.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Executive Chef in the effective management of daily kitchen operations

Prepare and oversee the preparation and service of meals for students and staff

Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, and nutrition

Assist with menu planning, taking into account dietary, medical, cultural, and religious requirements

Supervise, train, and support kitchen staff to ensure operational efficiency

Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations

Contribute to stock control, inventory management, and cost control

Uphold a professional, respectful, and child-safe working environment at all times

The requirements

Qualifications and Experience

Diploma in Culinary Arts from a recognised institution.

Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar role.

Experience in international schools, boarding schools, hotels, or large-scale institutional catering is highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP or equivalent).

Demonstrated leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
