Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Special Education Teacher is needed to support co-teaching efforts in a high school setting within a Maryland public school district. This contract position involves collaborating closely with general education teachers to deliver effective instruction and progress monitoring for students with IEPs in English and Math courses.
Two openings are available:
Position 1: Co-teach English courses with a general education teacher. Responsibilities include facilitating learning for students with special education needs, tracking progress toward IEP goals, and adapting instructional methods as necessary.
Position 2: Beginning mid-February through the end of the school year, co-teach Math courses alongside a general education teacher with similar responsibilities related to IEP goal monitoring and instructional collaboration.
Location: Thurmont, MD high school in a Frederick County public school.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., approximately 7 paid hours daily with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period.
Qualifications:
Valid Maryland Special Education License (grades 6-Adult)
Experience in co-teaching special education within a high school environment
Ability to collaborate effectively with general education staff
Strong skills in progress monitoring and IEP implementation
Key Responsibilities:
Co-plan and co-teach with general education teachers
Monitor and report on student progress toward IEP objectives
Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs
Maintain open communication with teaching teams and families
